Marlene Souza is the artistic and dynamic influence behind Molly B's Cakes of Distinction and Design.
Born in New York, Marlene's curiosity for baking began when she was a young girl watching her mother and grandmother creating traditional family recipes. Marlene's enthusiasm for baking flourished as a hobby while she was raising her family. A self-taught cake designer, Marlene has been a successfully designing and creating wedding cakes for over thirty years.
Marlene decided to return to school to pursue her passion for the creative arts and enrolled in the Culinary Arts Program at Johnson and Wales University. She received her Baking & Pastry Arts Degree in the Spring of 2007. With her degree and the help of family and friends, Marlene opened Molly B's Cakes of Distinction and Design. Molly B's is a woman owned and family supported business created around Marlene's fond memories of being in the kitchen with her relatives as a child.
Marlene continues to actively participate in competitions to elevate her sugarcraft skills and techniques.
Erin Stark is one of the main associates and currently one of the creative forces of Molly B’s Cakes of Distinction and Design.
Erin chose a Business Management degree from the University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth, MA to start her career. However, after working several years in both retail management and manufacturing, she decided to attend Johnson & Wales University to pursue her passion for baking and pastry.
Having worked in Connecticut and Rhode Island as a pastry chef, Erin joined forces with Marlene in 2009.
She participated in the 2010 BCC Skills USA Cake Competition and won second place in the Professional Specialty category for her Cleopatra-inspired wedding cake design. Aside from working with Marlene at Molly B's, Erin is currently the pastry chef in residence at Local 121 in Providence, RI. She is also planning on entering the 2011 Connecticut Cake Competition in Hartford, Connecticut.
